123 engine

Will a 123 engine from a 140 work in a Super A?
If so, are any modifications needed?

I don't see why it wouldn't. BUT..... The water pump is completely different than the late Super A, 100/130. The rear of the block looks the same, the front of the block is different. Super A, 100 130. pulley is different than the 140 . The 140 has a different crank. The 140 crank has a thread on the end where the pulley is pressed and then a nut goes over it. A 140 crank can be used in a Super A/100/130 build, but a super A /100/130'crank can not be used for a 140 build.

I have no idea about clearance and sheet metal issues if using a 140 engine.

I know some are probably tired of reading this story from me, but I believe it is important to pass on. I have completely disassembled A Super A and a 140. Small differences like brakes, the thread on the torque tube of a 140 is bigger than a super A, the lift arms are different on a Super A vs a 140. The water pump assembly is totally different on a 140 and for the life of me I can't figure out why they changed it and what purpose it serves. I built an strong engine using a 130 block, Super A head and a 140 crank and cam.

I love the 140, but prefer the styling/parts availability of the Supers/100/130/200/230's.

If you're Super A is thermosiphen and you switch over to a 123 water pump find yourself a fuel tank like the 140 so you won't have a clearance problem.
