it has the advance weights and springs under the plate. I'm soaking it trying to get it loosened up. The rotor shaft is stuck will only turn with pliers.
 
Hold the gear on the end of the distributor shaft with one hand and looking at the cap end. If you can turn the cam shaft clockwise and it springs back its for the gas. If you can turn counterclockwise and it springs back its for a diesel distributor with advance. That's if everything works as it should. Won't move far on the diesel one. Like TV said no advance on some diesels.
Also the original application can be identified if you can find the code. look on the OD where the two mounting clamps go for letters and numbers stamped in.
 
If you take the breaker plate out, the gasoline version will show the amount of advance and L stamped right next to the slot. Diesel will be 8 R or no advance. Actually they used advance on the diesel until latest 450.
