ENGINE WILL STILL NOT RUN ON DIESEL SIDE

1941 TD6 WITH BOSCH FUEL SYSTEM. Ok so I checked the
plungers and they are all free and moving, checked the
pump for debri ect and found nothing. I still don't think I
am getting enough fuel to the injectors for them to fire, any
ideas??? THANKS JIM.

Jim, I think the other day you said you were geting no fuel to injectors. Do you have a fuel gauge to check the pressure? Are you getting a good stream at bleders? If so how is your switch over linkage? All parts moving freely and doing what they should? I had my plunger apart 4 time before I got good fuel bled. One little piece of old fuel slim in plunger valve stopped it from pumping fuel. oldiron29

Have you cracked the lines to bleed the system while running it on the gas side and switching over? This can allow priming of the injector pump to get the fuel to the injectors. Jim

Run it on the gas side and advance the diesel speed control to a little above where idle would be and bleed the injector lines. If you get white smoke while running on gas when you advance the diesel speed control, then you are getting diesel to the cylinders and you have some other problem. Are you sure the decompression valves are working and close as they should when you put the switchover lever in diesel position?

I have been running it on the gas side with the throttle half open, get a little bit of fuel at 2 of the injectors but none at the others. Haven't noticed any white smoke. Everything on the decompression/ switch over linkage seems to be working properly. When I throw the lever from gas to diesel it just dies dosent even attempt to fire. I checked all the fuel lines to injectors and they are clean, checked all fuel lines at pump, seperator and filter all are clean. I pulled the access panel and the plungers all seem to moving and operating properly. I am just not that familiar with these bosch pumps. Any more insight would be appreciated. Everything with the engine looks good and it don't appear the engine has had alot of use over the years. Thanks jim.

I am NOT a diesel expert, but from what you have posted it sure sounds to me like the pump is bad. If you only have a little fuel at only 2 injectors, she ain't gonna run. I repeat, diesel is not my strong suite........but she needs to be putting adequate fuel in all 4 if she is gonna fire up on diesel.

Years ago my friend sold off a MD that would only run on the gas side and the fellow that bought it replaced the fuel filters, then the diesel side ran fine. Jerry

Now that you have confirmed that the plungers are moving, confirm that the rack is moving from no-fuel to full-fuel as called for by the governor. It may be stuck in the off position and if so, you will have no fuel. E-mail is open, or you can call me, I"m on the help committee listed in Harvester Highlights for gas start diesels. Brian
