My tach is working well however it is not recording the hours. It started this shortly after I bought the tractor and now I'd like to get it working. A bit of searching seems to indicate this is an internal problem in the tach which requires a full guage replacement.

Is there an internal part that can be replaced or a shop that repairs these or do I need to replace the unit? Sort of funny I suppose but if I have to buy a new unit is there any way to set the hours about where it should be?

Thanks

Well I"ve seen them turned back with a pistol drill so I suppose you could turn it ahead. That is why I never believe a tach hour meter, they are easy to turn back.

Gidday,
Depending on the model of the tach, it's probably chewed off the small gear that turns the drive for the numbers to change. Yes, it's a new tach or a rebuild. I made one out of two, but they are a bit fidly.

Any speedometer shop should be able to repair it. They may or may not set the hours though, but it is easy to do. The hardest part is getting the crimped glass cover off. Mark
