A question about the hand crank on an F-20

I've noticed while getting my F-20 cleaned up that there's a small diameter hole drilled through the hand start shaft that sticks out of the bolster, and a matching hole in the mating end of the hand crank. I'm assuming this means I can put a kotter pin in and leave the hand crank hanging there all the time. My question is... is there a reason I shouldn't?

you see a lot of them pinned on in pictures, but my luck I would forget about it sticking out there and bend the crap out of it.

if I don't manage to bend one up, you'll be just fine Rob.....lmao

not any different that say a 10-20, 22-36, W-30, etc with the crank fixed on the front of the machine

Mike,I always keep a cotter pin in my crank,I removed it once to use it on another tractor that I was working on,I had made a mistake and crossed 2 spark plug wires up and when it tried to start it kicked back allowing the crank to come loose and hit me in the forhead. Also it makes it harder for someone to take it at a show
