560 updates

I have a 1958 560. I was reading a post about having a triangle on the serial number plate. Mine does not have this triangle. Were there certain years that needed these updates or did mine get through the cracks? Is there a way to tell if the tractor received these updates?

If you have that early of a tractor it was supposed to get the up date. The mark may have just been omitted by the installer. The easiest way to tell for sure if you have the original update (MORE IMPROVEMENTS CAME LATER ON) is to pull one brake off and pull brake shaft out. Updated differential will have tapered roller bearings on differential and the brake shaft will have a huge ball bearing ST 305. Original differential had ball bearings. Bull gears and brake shaft are different also and I can tell by looking at the gear tooth profile but can't readily explain unless you had both old and new to compare.

Yes, it hasn't been sent to the scrapyard.

The only way a tractor without the updates would've survived this long is if it were barely used, and babied. Such a tractor would be like new.

If the tractor has seen any use at all, it has the updates.
