BD220 Valve Cover Cap

Good Morning!
My wife and I have restored a 1956 IHC S-100 that we really enjoy driving. Just got the heater repaired, and put another 120 miles on it yesterday! Anyway, the engine is a BD220 6-cylinder. It has a vented valve cover oil cap p/n 76770R91. I was wondering if there is any problem with switching to a non-vented cap, p/n 86900R91 from a BD282. The BD220 has a crankcase breather tube. We replaced the rings and had the valves ground this past spring. Just don't like the oil fume smell from the valve cover. I have attached a photo of this pretty little truck, Cub-Cadet yellow and white. (Sorry the image is so large!)
A most Blessed Veterans day to all of you!

Hello, Very nice truck, but you do however need to let the crankcase breath thru the cap.Your road draft tube works in conjunction with the open breather cap,if you close the system off you will create all sorts of unwanted internal crankcase pressure.
Hope this helps.

IH quit using the inlet breather on all their engines some where in the early 60's. The tractor ones that were hooked into the air cleaner inlet were plugged off. Not needed and only caused build up in air cleaner inlet. You will not build pressure as long as your draft tube is clean. If it has an element in it I would clean it.
