Tnaks to Veterans

I post this every Veterans Day here and on other Forum boards even though one person took offense to it one year, so here goes.

What is a Veteran?

A veteran - whether active duty, retired, or national guard or reserve is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check
made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life", and there are way too many people in this
country who no longer understand that.

It is the VETERAN, not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the VETERAN, not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the VETERAN, not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the VETERAN, not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the VETERAN,
who salutes the Flag,
who serves under the Flag,

ETERNAL REST GRANT THEM O LORD,
AND LET PERPETUAL LIGHT SHINE UPON THEM.

ALL GAVE SOME, SOME GAVE ALL

Thanks Veterans and God Bless you all

Thanks for the reminder, John.

Thanks to all those who thought more of their country and heritage than of themselves, who fought oppression to preserve their freedoms and way of life for their kin and posterity, not just in the USA, but all over the world.

Everyone needs a reminder now and then... thanks for posting it!

A Veteran... who believes they should re-instate the draft so everyone [u:f80ec49dcc]has the chance to serve[/u:f80ec49dcc].

I don't know why I spent a year in Viet Nam...some said it was to stop the spread of communism... that didn't work very well, today we have a communist in the oval office.

"Give thanks to those of us who came home, as God will bless those of us who didn't"

This was shared with me as a young boy on Memorial day, many years ago, by a WWI vet. My father and I were visiting at the VA Hospital in Erie, Pa. and the WWI vet was visiting a friend who was there.

I pass this blessing and wish to all my brothers in arms......present and past.

Thanks John, I appreciate that. I was a cold war sailor aboard the Wasp, chasing Russian subs around in the
Atlantic back in the late 50s, early '60s. They called it ASW (anti submarine warfare). That was our mission.

Best regards
