my block is cracked. the serial # is 25106a. I am searching for a block to replace it, do i have to have the same serial #? what other serial #'s could i use?

that serial3 is of the tractor and any "C" block will work. Where is the crack on the outside or inside between cycls also if its just on the outside it can be fixed easy with out welding and last for yrs so just where is the crack and how bad is it.

thanks for the reply. the cracks are in the top of the block around the cylinders. i have been told it is not repairable.

The casting number for the Super C block is 354898R1. Some of the Super A's used that block. Hal

I can look and see if I have a block if you want to give me a call (785)966-2739 days and satudays or (785)966-0038 eves before 9pm

I'm confused. Serial number 25106 would be a C, not a Super C.

Is that the tractor serial number, or the block serial number?

There are a ton of serial number blocks that will work. The number 251069 354898 come to mind. They could say r1 r2 or maybe r3.

There are a ton of serial numbers that are compatible, some could be from stationary power units and the like.

Blocks from Super A, C, Super C, 100, 200, 130 & 230''s will all work and be a direct fit. Measure the bore diameter to make sure you order the right sleeves.

140 and 240 blocks have a different style water pump I'm not sure if they will work.

I don't know if the early thermosiphen Super A blocks are different with their water passages, it still wouldn't matter. The head gasket was different between thermosiphen and water pump. I don't know if there is a difference in the Super A head and a Super C head. The Super A governor spring is different than the Super C. That is the only difference I have been able to find.

I have built 1 Farmall motor and it's a hybrid from 3 differnent tractors. I meticulously chose every piece, went through 3 blocks. I used a 130 block, 140 crank and cam and a Super A head with a 3 angle valve job. Good luck and maybe you should call that fella that has blocks for sale.

I think there is a 9 missing from that serial #

(quoted from post at 17:49:27 11/09/13) Mine is a 251069 what blocks do you have & how much are they?

What part of the country do you live?

I did an internet search and found 2 good looking blocks, just be careful. Some of the blocks I'm seeing don't have bearing caps.

You need to measure your old sleeves. The engine block 354898R1 had sleeves that measured 7-1/32" in length and 3.4375" in diameter at the seal.

The Farmall A, B,C engine sleeves measured 6-7/8" in length and 3.312" in diameter at the seal. Hal

Just for information, the serial number is unique to an individual block. Unless some one stamped that particular number on a replacement service block there will not be anther one with that number. The number you need to be concerned with, and all the replies indicated that it is generally understood, is the block casting number.

(quoted from post at 17:00:08 11/11/13) I Live in KY, were you looking on ebay? I am afraid
to buy a block that i can't look at first

I don't blame you. A lot of those ebay blocks don't have main bearing caps. You live in Kentucky. There should be a tractor salvage yard near you that has International equipment. If you don't get a block from a forum member look up the IHC collectors club in Kentucky. I think their #24, but anyway someone in the club could probably tell you where to drive in Kentucky to find a block.
