i"M RESTORING A Farmall H . My ser. # is FBH-119994 X-5 > I understand it"s a 1944 model. I would like to know about the FBH and the X-5 I think the Fbh somehow dscribes the Model H. What does the X-5 stand for ? In advance I thank you for any help. Rich.

The X-5 ending means that tractor was equipped with 5000ft altitude pistons. Higher compression to compensate for less dense air and still get the same horse power.

Now here is a good question. It would stand to reason that the H with the high compression pistons will have more hp at 800 ft above sealevel than the X1...if so, how much?

I'll leave that one to the experts. I'm sure there is more HP but the actual number I'm unsure of. People put fire craters in their engines to achieve this as well. I am sure people know the actual amount, hopefully they will chime in.

Original kerosene burning tractor equipped with pistons to operate at a higher elevation. Called 5,000 foot.
Be very unusual to find the same type pistons in it now.
