Gear oil for super c

I was wondering if it would be alright to use 85w-140 oil in my super C. Also does the GL rating make any different?

You will be fine with 85w-140 in the summer. I like the thicker oils as they can take more gear pressure. It also allows the gears to slow down faster when you press in the clutch from neutral. If you operate much in the winter, you may want 80w-90 though.

In my tractors I use Lucas 80-90 gear oil or regular 80-90 with Lucas Heavy duty oil Stabilizer added as directed.

There was quite a discussion on this that I started back on 8/11/2013. Bottom line was that I'm getting quite a bit of gear whine with 80-90 and am going to more like 140 when I change it next spring. Some recommended a Lucas additive.
