Will a 300 gas utility ring gear and pinion gear shaft work in a 460 transmission? My 460 is bad and I have 300 Utility parts available.

460 Farmall? international? or high utility?
Farmall and high utility pinion shaft 15 teeth, 460 and 300. Utility 300 16 teeth. International 460 18 teeth. Ring and pinion change can be swapped into those tractors by changing both gears. But depending on the models, you can end up with different ground speeds.
Yes the 300 U set will work. Ground speed will be faster if installed in a farmall and slower if installed in a international 460 regular utility type.

I have a farmall 460. I would like the faster ground speeds. I just noticed the end of the pinion gear shaft looks different than my farmall 460. I am talking about where the bearing is at that goes into the constant mess. The 300 utilty has threads in the end and a key slot. My farmall 460 is smooth I think. I appreciate your help

Shafts with threads used a special washer, bolt lock and a bolt to retain the pilot bearing. Other type shaft should have a retaining ring or a retaining ring grove to retain the bearing.
Depending on the 460 serial number or any updates done the differential may be different than the 300. Same ring gear fits both types.
