54' Super C hitch hook handle?

I was reading through the manual for my 1954 Farmall Super C and there is a reference to some sort of a handle with a hook on it to reach down and unlock the fast hitch locks from the seat. Has anybody ever seen one of these or can post a picture of one? Where was it mounted on the tractor when not in use? Another thing I wonder about is where was the engine starting crank mounted? Can anybody show a picture of that mounted also?

I don't remember seeing the hitch handle but I think the crank goes through the hole in the front top right of the tool box.

The two posts below are both correct. There is a clip it goes under on top of the touch control. Mine is on the right hand side. I made the one I have on mine. I went to the hardware store and got a piece of 1/4" rod material. Heated with a torch and put a hook on one end and a T handle on the other. I am 6'2" tall, so I made mine to fit me sitting in the seat without bending over to much.

Crank has slide-in type brackets fastened to the toolbox on the left side and the crank lays on top of the tranny housing. Hook for fast hitch goes on top of batt box there are clips to hold it.

Ok, I have the clip on top of the hydraulic control box. What was the configuration of the original hook? Can someone give me dimensions and or pictures of one? I am going to run out and see if I can find the hole in the tool box for the crank. I am assuming the tool box under the seat?

Check eBay for a fast hitch hook. There's one on there with a photo, although not specifically for a Super C. It's been on there forever (probably due to the asking price). I didn't see any in the "sold" auctions. I notice, though, that the guy has five of them on hand; he simultaneously describes them as brand new and "very hard to find." -- For what it's worth.

They are being reproduced now and can be found by the arm load from various vendors at the annual RPRU. The original IHC ones have the round rod flattened somewhat on both sides where it slips into the retainer clip on the instrument pedestal near the rear in front of the handle while the reproductions I've seen have a constant round cross-section the entire length, Hal.

Ok, this is a good picture of a "remade" one. It appears to be made from maybe a 1/2" diameter steel rod, which my clip on the top of the instrument panel seems to be sized for. And I can guess at the length required by fitting it to what I have. Was there also another clip for it on top of the hydraulic box? Or did it just lay on top of it between the bolt heads? Because I don't have another clip there.

It finally stopped raining here this afternoon and I stopped by the tractor shed and got the hook off of my 1953 Super C. It is made from 3/8" (.375") round stock as I checked it with a micrometer. It is 22.25" in length overall, the handle is 4.75" wide by 2.00" deep and the hook end is 1.75" wide with the open end part pointing back toward the handle 1.00" where it was cut off. All of these dimensions are from outside to outside of the rod material. Also, the hook end is 90 degrees to the handle so it fits under the forward bracket on the touch control assembly when the handle is oriented in a vertical position at the rear when in the spring latch clip on the instrument panel box. Hope this helps if you decide to fabricate one, Hal.
