I have farm all A that I want to replace the light switch because i"ts not grounding the generator properly. The switch I got from yesterday"s tractor doesn"t look like it has the resistor built in. Do I need something additional ? And is this the correct part. Thanks

There are two different switches. One is a 3-position for a regulated setup, and the other is 4-position for the cutout.

If you turn the switch and it only clicks 2 times, then you got the wrong one. It should click 3 times.

yes your right i do have the correct 4 position
but the switch instructions don"t say anything about the gen ground on the terminal markings.
just high,low and rear light.

can you post a picture of the switch. It would be interesting to know who made the switch you purchased.

There is a bigger set of information needed here. Is the generator equipped with a cutout or voltage regulator??

How many positions did your old switch have??

The original one did have the resistor at the bottom of the sw thats for hi-charge and the wire from there goes to the F terminal on the gen. Your gen should have the last three #s either a 355 or 423 and they have an adjustable third brush set for charging amount. When the sw is in the hi-charge position it will charge more. If you need an original i do have some as replacement sw you see listed arent like the original and probably will not work like the system was meant to operate.
