My M and I made the front page of the October issue of Michigan Farmer Magazine. Thank God the M is photogenic...

SMTA Diesel? I would have a hard time walking away from one of those even though I really don't need one. You fellas must have an active club down thataway 'cause it seems like I get burned every time I head down there for auctions. That's a nice tractor and the picture is a real keeper!

Would it be out of line to ask for an
autograph? Maybe just sign a pic and post
it so we can all print one off lol.
Detroit diesel? Fill us in!

SMTA no... She got that wrong... Just a regular ole M, 1949 to be exact. Has a 2-71 GM (Detroit) Diesel conversion, installed in the early 50's by the Earle Equipment Company of Detroit.

Neither 2-71 GM Diesels or Farmall Ms are rare... But together is something you don't see every day.

Well it's a really nice regular old M! I probably should have known that but my SMTA has the wrong grill on it and, head on, I can't really tell the difference. Always wanted to take my daughter up there and do that ride. We have a B with two seats and I thought she would get a kick out of driving it across the bridge. Do they still have the rule about only one person on a tractor? Stopped us from going several years back.

No, they allow buddy riders. If I am not mistaken there may be minimum age limit for the riders. I know there is for drivers. The seats must also meet certain criteria.

It is a really nice time and continues to get better. I highly suggest attending. I plan to be there again in 2014.

Congrat's on your photo op, I did not mean to sound like a rain cloud. Pic's like that always remind me of our local farm paper. Someone mistakenly captioned a photo of manure getting spread. Said they were plowing! I even checked the date & it was not April first. Must have been out of coffee at the office.

Indeed, that combination is something special & a company conversion to boot. I suppose, if all the details were filled in, in the caption, it'd be an article wouldn't it? ;v)

No harm, I knew exactly what you meant. I groaned when I first read the caption. I thought I was pretty concise when I spoke to the event organizer who passed the information onto the person who wrote the article. Oh well.

That picture right there just confirms my Christmas Parade Theory; you see lots of John Deere greens, yeah, yeah, yeah, but a bright red Farmall really makes you grin!!
