Identifying inheritance

I recently inherited what I am told is a 1953 Super A. From all my reading the serial number is supposed to be on the inside of the seat bracket. This tractor has the seat mounted on a single pivoting post with a shock absorber and a large coil spring. The engine serial number plate reads "FAAM 329352 G". I did not write down the casting date. It has a distributor and coil. I need points, condenser, and rotor button. I could not find a part number on the distributor. Can someone point me to the correct parts.

You can go to any Case IH dealer and the information you have will be sufficient and I doubt they will need the serial number. NAPA will also be able to use just that to get what you need. I do not believe the motor number and the frame serial number were the same for the Super A.

Take your parts(as a sample to match) to your local
NAPA.They can look up and get the correct
parts.OR...Call these guys right here on YT.They
have the parts in stock and will fix you right up.

Yours sounds like a Monroe aftermarket seat like I had on my B. The chassis serial plate would have been on the original seat bracket. Look around the estate for the original brackets. Tractor folk frequently hoard parts to keep with the tractor.

Did you say "engine serial number plate"? Was it mounted on the left side of the clutch housing? If it was a shinny metal plate then it was the frame serial number plate and there was only one on the entire unit. The motor serial number is to be found hand stamped on a flat on the right front side of the motor above the distributer almost behind the throttle rod.

I have gathered every part I could find and there is a lot. This originally belonged to my grandfather who used to raise cotton. I have every kind of sweep and share you could imagine. Some very large sweeps, as he called them, that followed behind the rear wheels. They are almost flat and reach from the middle of one row to the middle of the next leaving just enough for the cotton stalks. I have a planter and a fertilizer hopper. When I was a little fellow I would ride in his lap while he plowed. Good days.

As others said, you have an after market seat and the tractor
serial number was on a tag on the factory seat brackets that
were bolted to the final drive housings. Tractor serial number
and engine serial number which you got off the engine block
would not be the same, but you can tell the year from the
engine SN. Sounds like you got a nice set up. The planter is
a nice piece to have and is something folks are looking for, so
don't let that get away.

You have an aftermarket seat, thus the original seat bracket and serial plate are gone.

The Super A engine and serial numbers did not match. But that engine number suggests a tractor built about March or April of 1952.

Thanks for the info. The old tractor runs but needs a lot of tlc. For now I just want to keep it from deteriorating any further and when I retire in a few years do a full restoration. There is a good bit of rust in the gas tank and I see that rust inhibitor is sold here but what is a diy method cleaning the tank.
