a friend of mine has a 574 industrial. the clutch does not disengage he said it worked fine the spring when he parked it. any help will be appericated

not real familiar with the 574, but often the clutch disc will "stick" to the flywheel if sitting over time. you can try blocking down the clutch pedal for a few days and then try rocking the tractor in road gear. this may get it loose. other options are spraying brake cleaner on the clutch and disc, either thru an inspection cover or by pulling the flywheel. or last resort, get the tractor in open country, start it in gear 3rd or 4th, and drive around holding the clutch down and applying the brake. or hook it to an implement like a plow and make a few rounds with the clutch depressed. it should break free.

Aim it out the door or take it out, and aim toward a place where it can be driven without worry. put it in a medium speed gear, block the clutch pedal down and start it in gear. Drive it around and it should free it up. Jim

oopps that should read, pulling the starter, not the flywheel. as long as the starter is on the backside of the bell housing. must be the meds....

The 574 would have a (4 pad) metallic disk, those aren't prone to sticking ...unless it was replaced with another type of disk
