Carb question...

M through 450, W-9-650 and SH through 350 will all bolt to the same size manifold bolt patterns along with the governor throttle opening.
Some have choke levers on different sides and most all have internal changes. depending on fuel type and engine size.
Ones in question differ in several ways. 358065R91 or 92 SH carburetor uses a 23/32 venture bore. Also uses a throttle shaft slot connected to air passages that mixes more air with the fuel above low idle. You can tell that type by a nut at bottom of the fuel bowl with a screw driver slot that retains the main discharge nozzle inside the bowl. Also the idle mixture screw is located down below the manifold mounting flange.
361525R92 300 and 350 gasoline carburetors have a 25/32 venture opening, no throttle shaft slot, no retaining nut on the bottom of the bowl and the metering sized for the different type system.
Idle air adjusting screw is in the manifold flange.
both type carburetors will work on a SH to 350.
SH will give less wide open power on a 350 but will lug better at low speeds from my experience.
Now using a SM carburetor on a 175 engine with a 25 venture instead of the 27 venture used in the SM. Needed to change discharge nozzle openings and the air bleed size one thing at a time for a bunch of times to get it running as I wanted. Now that the engine is broke in good it doesn't seem to need as much fuel in the mid range. Must have more vacuum, so probably going to try another change.

Variety is good & the fact that the carb is tunable, great! Now, to figure out what to do. I may pass on the Super H carb. If the tractor is going to be running 540 on the PTO, with either my current mowing rig or a haybine, I'll probably need to feed the engine well to get the power required. A mod'd Super M - 450 et al, carb would not be out of the question, it's just the matter of finding one. Same goes for the 350 carb. Good thing I have time & I thank you for yours.
