f 30 gears

Did they make a different rear end ratio or transmission ratio for the f 30 based on tire size? I do not have parts book to check. Have a f 30 with 28 inch rears and I know they had 34 and 36 inch rears and that would greatly affect gearing. Would like to go to bigger tires and slow tractor down some.
 
The F-series were geared a bit fast, if you put tall rubber on it it will be faster, only way to slow it down is shorter wheels, like 28" rears. I like the looks of the taller rears, but for some things shorter is better, but the smaller footprint means you need more wheel weights for traction if doing heavy work like plowing. But gear wise 4th gear was the only one I know of there being an option.
 
to me the ground speed is a bit fast , especially when you have 36 inch rubber on the rear. 2nd gear plowing with my F-20 is as fast or faster than an M 3rd gear. And if you have the fast 4th in an F-20 you lose the original 3rd gear and now have the original 4th gear speed for 3rd, effectively losing a working gear for any kind of load. 1st gear is faster than 2nd in JD A, I just think if they had changed gear ratios when rubber tires were used they could have really improved pulling power of these tractors. If they were geared to the same ground speed as an M they would be real beasts, because those engines made a lot of torque. I love my F-series, just wish I had more useable gears sometimes. I live in heavy clay ground area that pulls hard, so other areas it may be less of an issue.IH addressed my concern with the development of the T/A later on.
