Disc Blades

I have an 8 ft. disc that I cannot tell the brand. Were most 8 ft. disc's equipped with 16 inch blades and if so, can I replace with 18 inch blades?

If this is an older disc, they may have been 18" to start with but have worn down to 16". Do you have enough clearance everywhere around them? 16 to 18 you are only looking at 1 inch each way. Main thing is whole size and shape to find new ones.

You can replace them with any disk that will fit. I would remove the old disk first on one side and try a set of replacement disk. If too big go back and exchange for a smaller size. You could also measure the rear disk since they do not wear as fast as the front. Some have been know to swap the front for the rear to get longer wear out of a set of disk.

Measure what you have and get the largest size that will clear your frame work. I replaced my worn ones with 18" on John Deere KB disc, and it really makes a difference in performance.
