Case International 485 Lift Problems

Our Case IH 485 has started giving some problems with the lift
when you raise the lift leaver with the draft set about mid way hooked to our 3pt disk harrow the lift jumps and is very slow to come up it does the same when lifting the 6ft bush hog
it also makes grinding sounds when using the bush hog with the pto on and raising the lift
we used the hydraulic harrow today and it seemed to work fine
does anyone have any ideas we have changer the hydraulic filter just last week thinking it may be clogged but it didn't help any
Thanks

Be sure you have enough oil in the transmission, the instructions are a bit confusing about the proper level. I check the level with the engine off and place it about 2 inches above the mark.

When you use the factory method this will be on the mark ..the transmission holds 10 gallons refill

Hi Russell, is the harrow 3pt or is it lifted by
remote hydraulic cylinder?
There is a lever by the PTO lever that controls the
speed of the lift/lower of the 3pt. Can't remember
if forward is slow and fast is to the rear or other
way around. Check the position of this lever.

I have also had problems like this with my hydraulics in general. Ambient air temperature seems to effect the hydraulic system, especially when air temperature drops below 40 degrees. My lift and even my power steering does not function as expected. I'm suspecting the wrong hydraulic fluid/specific gravity of the fluid. Still troubleshooting.
