Farmall 706 final drives?

When I drained the transfer case and the final drives to replace the hy-tran I guess I was ignorant to the fact that the final drives are filled seperately, does anybody know the capacity of the final drives?

think it's something like 5 qt each. course you'll drain quite a bit more than that from the oil that splashes through the bearings and finds its way from the trans to the final.

The capacity is 6 quarts. If the inner bull pinion seal leaks they may be over filled with oil from the rear frame.

when next you have the PTO out, remove the large freeze plug from the inner axle bearing, the oil level will adjust to the main reservoir. Later models have this plug removed and also a hole near the bottom of the final drive housing, to circulate the oil.
