674 ih brakes

dads 674 that he bought new in mid 70s is loosing brake pressure. we have bled them a lot this year. you can pump several times to slow you down, but there is a problem. after a couple weeks of use, they need bled again. any suggestions

if there are no external leaks, then most likely the o-rings on the brake pistons need replacing. there is also a reservoir used on the later model tractors (84-85-95 series) that you can install, this will prolong the time between "bleedings".

are brake pistons located internal or external

Hi Pork,
Unfortunately the brake pistons are located under the axle housing, so axles must be removed to access the PB pistons.

sounds to me like the orfice on the keep fill line is plugged is found on the right side just in front of battery on the return line from the oil cooler where line splits to go to the brake master
