504 Loose steering

The steering on the 504 is dangerous in road gear, and I was told that a gear needed to be flipped in the front so that good teeth are in the worm gear. They also said that you have to take the radiator out to do this? To me it looked like you would have to drop everything from the frame. Can anyone tell me if this makes sense, and what the best way to do this would be?

Sorry, I knew that they were different and forgot to mention that it is a Farmall row crop with a wide front. It has power steering.

I really doubt that one component is the cause of all the problem. On my 400, the nut that holds the bearing on the shaft needed to be tightened up. That solved the majority of the problem, but not all of it. I also flipped the gear and tighten the wheel bearings. It all adds up.
Good Luck
