F20 Clutch Pedal - rebush / replace mounting stud

Clutch pedal on the F20 wants to almost go sideways, except the rail helps guide it forward. The stud in the tranny case and mounting hole are badly, badly worn. I ordered a replacement stud today from Rice, but wondering how to go about removing the original and installing the replacement (After getting the clutch pedal bushed to match). And it appears to remove the clutch pedal, one must first remove the left side engine rail. Anyone have experience doing this or any suggestions?

all you have to do is remove the little bolt that holds the clutch pedal shaft in and remove shaft and pedal together. Nothing to it.

No little bolt on mine. Washer and cotter key hold the clutch pedal onto a stud. Not sure if stud is threaded or pressed in or how to remove it. Can't remove the pdal from the stud, from what I can see without removing the left frame rail.

There is a set screw that holds the stud in. One you
get that out you may be able to pull the stud
through the pedal to remove it.

Are you describing my F20 or yours? ha ha. Mine has a similar sloppy clutch pedal that veers left, can't go right because luckily it hits the frame. Just a cotter pin and a washer. Sheered it off once, lucky was trying to put in gear and not taking it out! That was a 10 cent breakdown. My thoughts are to weld another rail on the left side of the clutch pedal, so its caged in on either side to remove all side slop.

Thanks, I'll look it over this weekend and look for that screw. Would it be toward the inside or outside end of the stud? Or from a lip on the case. In my memory, I see only a very worn and rusty stud. When you say pull it, that include heating and somehow pulling with lots of oomph? Probably not just grabbing it out with a vice grips?

the bolt has a jam nut on it just back it out and the shaft that the clutch pedal pivots on should pull out of the trans case. Like Cowman said you might have to push it through the pedal some but it's not a big deal

The bolt is on the front of the tranny case. I made a new pivot pin when I rebuilt my Regular, even after taking out the bolt it was a pain removing the pin as it was rusted in place.

doehmke,

Husband and I just went out to our Regular and took a photo (is the same as your F20).

He told me the process and I added text to the photo. Hope this helps.
