converting my m to a hitachi alternator, do you need to put a diode in the line and do you need to replace the 6 volt coil to 12volt and use a ballast resistor?

With a 6 volt coil yes you need a ballast resister like the O'Reilly's VR-1. As for needing a diode I can not help with since I do not know that alternator wiring needs

You need to *either* replace the 6 volt coil with a 12 volt one *or* add a ballast resistor.

Itr wires the same as a 10SI Delco. #1 therminal is The same as L on Hitachi. #2 on Delco is same as S on Hitachi. L goes to diode with band towards alternator. S goes to the Big output terminal (short wire) Jim
