farmall H front wheel shaking

I have a farmall H with front wheels shaking at different speeds what would b a simple fix. THANKS

Most likely your sector gear is shot. You need to check and see how much free play you have in the stearing. If you have more than about 3/4" play in then it is the gear. Not hard to do, but I think new gears are like $75 or so.

Replace the bushings in the pedestal they are worn and lets play in the gears.

It could be any or all components shot. I ended up replacing everything before it quit shaking. I would just plan to replace gears and bushings.

Replace everything, no such thing as one item being the problem on a 60 year old tractor. Carter-Gruenwald has kits with everything you need for the vertical shaft. Also, before you remove your sector gear mark how it came out with a scratch. If it is a round one you can turn it 180 degrees and have a new gear. Your worm gear may also be worn (probably is) and Bates Corp will have new used ones for $100.00. Ellis

AS you"re doing it, also replace [or install in the first place] both the seals in the housing. Not expensive. Have to invent your own seal puller, and it"s satisfying to do. When you get there, check back for the details.
