Have a diesel 424 with a broken crankshaft. I can get a new one but how do I ID the engine. I need to determine if it is a BD154. Can anyone help?

The only numbers on the crank I can find is B5040B. Didn"t mean anything to the parts man I"m dealing with.

Hi Teddy, there should be a flat raised area on the right side of the engine block casting about the top of the oil filter but forward beneath the engine mounted hydraulic pump(s). It should be stamped with BD-154.

DO YOU HAVE REASON TO BELIEVE ENGINE HAS BEEN REPLACED ? WOULD BE A BD-154 IF NOT SINCE ONLY DIESEL THEY USED.

IF STILL IN DOUBT GET SOME NUMBERS OFF CONNECTING RODS OR BRG. INSERTS. MAYBE WE CAN CROSS THOSE OVER FOR YOU.

I used to grind cranks. Go to a shop that does it and have them check the books. It will tell what engine it is used in.
