560 diesel thermostat

I ordered a thermostat of a 560 I ended up getting one for a gas engine, as it was different from the one I replaced. Will it hurt anything? I ran it for a couple of hours and by the temp gauge it worked perfectly. Scotty

Does the correct diesel thermostat have an extra disc on the back side to block the bypass passage as the thermostat opens the passage to the radiator in this application?

No the gas thermostat is bigger around. The diesel is smaller with a copper shroud and thick rubber gasket.
