Super H low gear

Yes, I believe a lower than standard speed low gear was an option for Super H's lowering low speed to 1 3/4 mph....and reverse to 2 1/8 mph.

The counter shaft is different, it is not a simple gear to gear change. The first gear counter shaft teeth are cut into the countershaft rather than being a gear on the shaft. Thus there are many components to locate, and many to change. A complete tractor trans from the differential to the input shaft (in the housing) with Low Low is easiest andprobably a best option to assure all parts are in hand. Jim

The issue may be location. The whole trans as a unit is way difficult to ship. there were no records of which tractors got the low gears (to my knowledge) The places like Bates Equipment in Indiana, and many other salvage yards is most likely. The percentage with those gears is low, and they are in demand. Not cheap. Jim

I found my 1950 H with low gears. I have never found another one except at the pulls. I've looked and looked farm after farm and not once have I seen a second low geared tractor.

(quoted from post at 03:45:17 10/01/13) If you swap all the guts will an H low low work?
It should all bolt together. Your best bet for getting a low gear option is to look for a H rear. The brakes will be drum not disk and I think there is something else different but I am confident it will bolt to your super's center casting. I wouldnt bother swapping the guts. Its alot less work to replace the whole thing.

sflem849, yes it can be done. Although you can run into notched and splined counter shafts from a H. Even though first is the same for a low low H or SH. When swapping all 4 speeds and the reverse idler need to be from the same tractor.
Due to the double gears 3&4 and 1&2 on the counter shaft and 2&3 slider gear on the top shaft. Except on a low low first and second are separate gears. So if the unit comes from a H the special and hard to find second speed gear for the counter shaft won't mesh with the super H reverse idler or the 3&4 SH slider gear.
