pulled my water pump off the h Im restoring and it is stuck havnt worked with it much yet. do they sell rebuild kits for these? or is it cheaper just to buy a new/rebuilt one? also the piece that adjusts for the size of the belt that you just turn is stuck too. I have tried getting that lose with minimal luck. any ideas? thanks in advance!!!
 
Did you loosen the screw holding it tight? It should be in one of the notches. The water pump is able to be rebuilt at home If I remember right. Soak it in some witches brew and it should loosen up.
 
Rebuild kits surely are available from various sources. I rebuilt mine and found it a fairly simple operation, once I learnt (via this forum) where to find the small locating pin in the pulley. Zach Hoyt helped me out with a second pump for parts because part of mine was cracked. Rebuilding a Farmall H water pump is a satisfying job because it is (usually) not too difficult and, providing you are careful about fitting the bearings and seals correctly it will work without leaking. Also much cheaper than buying a new pump. Go for it!
