Farmall M Steel Wheel Lugs

Finally got hold of a good set of Farmall M heavy duty steel wheels. All the lugs are bolted on so that they overhang the edge of the rim slightly. If they were turned around the lugs would be flush with the rim edge. Is there any special reason to fit them one way or the other?
Thanks,

I think it is a wash (meaning equa or near equal)
If turned out, they would self clean a little in muddy condtions. But in that position they would also tear up more soil and possibly sink faster (no data on that). If out the odds of catching them on a post of Kidney would increase. I'm glad you found servicable wheels. I know you like the feel of steel. (and no flats). Here in the states with even big fields connected by paved roads, using them is fround upon accept in shows from trailers. Driving one for 4km on "piont" would remove the kidneys in a vibratory way. Hi Jim,
thanks for that. It makes sense. No road going for the Farmall M on steel wheels! I did find rear tyres for it (13.5-32) at a mere $1200 each! Didn't like that price very much - didn't buy 'em either. In the meantime, a bit of gearbox repair is underway to have it all ready for cutting hay in December or January, depending on the weather.
