IH, F4 Magneto

Working on an IH F4 magneto. I need to replace a
couple of the flip top oilers. Does anyone sell
them? How does one go about removing the old one and
inserting the new one? They appear to be soldered
into the casting. I'm afraid to heat them in fear
that the flip top, which is also soldered on, will
break away. Grateful for any info. Thanks. Bill

They are press-fit. I have removed and replaced them by opening the cap and pulling them out with a needle-nosed pliers.

My source is a parts mag.

Type in Magneto on your computer and you wiil find a number of rebuilders. Callsome of them they should be able to help you.

Frequently they will tear if you try to pull them with needle nose pliers. I have found a better way, open the lid and insert the back end of a snugly fitting drill bit or a punch. Grab the outside of the body with pliers pinching the drill bit, twist and remove.

To insert the new one mount the new oiler on the end of the bit and tap the end of bit or punch. This will put the stress on the taper at the bottom instead of tapping on the lid and possibly deforming the oiler.
