Cub grinding in gear when shifting

Pulled the clutch plate. Its in near new shape. I had adjusted the clutch pedal all the way up before that, and adjusted the yoke in the torque tube. What should I do next? I only use it to belly mower mow with.

Nope, its the bearing on the backside of the drive shaft, back of the bell housing. Gotta open it up a lot further to see bout getting that.

My 240U did that yesterday. It hadn't been moved for about 6 weeks and yesterday I moved it to mow around where it and my old pickup were parked. Shut it off, put in gear and started it and luckily it unstuck. Just rust I guess. I have started it a few times without moving it, just run the loader and 3 point up and down, and I installed a new seat last week. Need to get some rock dumped on my driveway and use the darn thing or I might as well sell it. I had a guy ask about it a while back, but when I need it, I need it.

I went around and around with similar problems on my "H". Finally read the Clutch Adjustment Manual, GSS-1095. I adjusted the three pressure plate fingers, so they were 3/16" away from the release bearing. Fixed!!

Well, My Clutch plate is on perfect condition, and im returning the new one I bought thinking I would find it bad. AND paying $72 for the carrier bearing that I need.

The contact surface on the pressure plate fingers should be 1-1/4" from the surface of the pressure plate frame. That, with the correct clutch pedal free travel adjustment, should allow the clutch to release.

Only way you can tell if the pilot bearing is hanging up is to replace it.
