1066 Noisy Transmission

I have a 1066 with a transmission that really whines when the TA is in the high range forward position. When pulled into low range, it"s not near as noisy. Is there something wrong, adjustment to be made, or are these tractors inherently noisy?

My 1256 whines in LOW ta ever since I replaced it 5 years/1000 hrs ago.My other tractors are 'quiet' on both sides.

Could be cause by not having the t/a shimmed and the lower counter shaft gear not shimmed to match or the lower counter shaft was set to tight or to loose . Lot of guys think that ya just STUFF a rebuilt t/a in and bolt her down and stuff it together . Yep it will work but it ain't wright.

I set my TA with a dial indicator as per the book.I have often wondered if I 'messed up'.But it works as it should so I dont worry...

Did you have to add any shims'' behind the quill?? If you did then did you shim the gear on the lower countour shaft with the same shim ?? did you tighten up the countour shaft nut tight then back off then re SNUG and drill the nut and install the 1/8th inch roll pin??
