I put new plugs, wires, cap, points, condenser and rotor on my 656 this spring but noticed last night that it is arcing to the block on 2 or 3 plugs out of the boot on the wire. Is there anything else that could cause this other then bad wires? They are new.

Slide the rubber boot up on the plug wire to expose the terminal. Make sure the terminal is securely snapped onto the spark plug, and then push the boot back down as far as it will go.

Many ignition problems are the result of incorrect installation.

Id thoroughlly clean and dry the plug porcelain (inspect for cracks or carbon traces) and if she still arcs could be the wire end boots etc. If the plug were bad or an open circuit the voltage rises higher and current can arc no tellin where lookin for a path to frame ground. When people drastically increase a plugs gap HV arcing can be more of a problem requiring quality wires and distributor caps. If theres an open circuit with no current path voltage can rise so high even good wires can have a problem.

You might take a look at the cap and rotor tip and internal pick up towers etc and timing (rotor tip is at a pickups when points just break open) for conditions that are greatly increasing voltage ??

If a plug wire has a break (not carbon core suppressor wires are they) voltages can rise also.
