Farmall H hubs

I have seen hundreds of restored H's over the years and now that I am in the process of restoring mine I guess I have never paid as close of attention as I should have.

My question is - were the front hubs, rear hubs rough cast? My H was heavy rusted at one time, so I am not sure how much or what pieces like this were always rough or pitted and what I should I should fill.

Hubs were "rough cast".Just clean em with a wire
brush,sandblast if you like.Then paint....

Sandblast. Then "polish" them up with an 80 grit flap wheel on your 4 inch grinder.. For every 1 per cent correct police that will not like it, there are 99 lookers that love "Shiney".
I give all the cast on a tractor the 80 grit flap wheel buffing prior to epoxy prime.

I removed some of the rough on my "H" and primed and re-painted, and yes it does look alot better. Don"t overdo it.
