340 and A/B governor the same??

Was raking hay today with the 340 and all at once it seemed like the governor stopped working. It ran well just the engine stayed the same speed pretty much all the time. you could grab the carb to gov rod and slow it down but the gov did not seem to make it move any. I have a couple B/A engines laying around but not sure if they are the same on the A/B as the 340
