Sickle bar mower on F12.

I have an F12 that has a sickle bar mower mounted on it. My dad mounted the mower long before he passed away, so it has been on the tractor for a very long time. The problem is we don't know who the manufacturer is or what model it is. Is there a way of determining that info about the mower? Any info would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Bill

IH produced a sickle mower for the F12.I believe it the #12 mower. It was mounted on the drawbar, had a 'gearbox' from the pto shaft down to the pitman 'flywheel'.It was fully carryed by the tractor, used either hand lift or used the tractor's hydralic lift(if tractor was so equiped).Post a pic, please

Delta Red is correct. The mower for the F-12 is a #12 and was available in 5', 6' or 7' length. I can provide you a picture, if needed.

My family's F-12s were used with Minnesota mowers that bolted to the drawbar. The story goes the mowers had a built in lift for the sickle (possibly hydraulic). The same mowers were used with a Farmall H when it joined the fleet. Pretty sure other makes such as New-idea and (gasp) John Deere could be mounted the same way. Is there any hint of paint color remaining? Look for casting numbers, names, and logos. If you have a way to post a picture it can help too.
