1066 PTO problem

My 1066 pto will quit working under a load and I read the archives and I think it is going to be that pin in the control valve that everybody was talking about so my question is can I get it out from the bottom without taking the hold pto assembly out? I will have to get it back to the shop if I have to but at least I'm not in a hurry to fix it. thanks

NO it is NOT the pin . If the tiny pin is sheared then you will not have a PTO . (1) when does it quit working ?? when going down hill ??? add more hyd fluid . (2) does it slip under load ??? If it has slipped under load then there is a good chance that it needs rebuilt and you don't stop at the clutches ya need to check the housing where the clutch drum runs in and ya look for ware where the teflon seal rings ride . (3) ya need a special fitting and a gauge that will read 600 PSI to check clutch lock up pressure and Lock up pressure MUST BE CHECKED with the Hyd oil AT WORKING TEMP. And the gauge should read for a 1066 245-265 PSI .

Thanks tractorvet,I was hoping you would answer I read some of your archives and I thought maybe it was that pin you talk about, the pto will work although the lever doesn't have any resistance on it so I thought that pin was broken,it has been awhile since I used the pto mostly use it to plow with but I remember when it would get in a bind it would quit working, but the hydraulic may have been a little low,I will check that again. Thanks
