on a farmall m do you put the fan shroud on the radiator before you put the radiator on

No; put the shroud over the fan blades first then install the radiator.

It will go if installed while off but it will be tight against the blades. Probably better to put the shroud on the tractor and keeping it back against the engine while setting the radiator on. Just done mine about 2 days ago. Larry

I backfitted a fan shroud on my "H" because of Christmas parades, didn"t want any chance of little kids getting into fan blades, I was told not NOT to cut the shround in half on the bottom and fit it in, but it worked great, didn"thave to remove anything, I was just careful.
