Helping clean the neighbor lady's shed out and found eight of these plastic plates and some steel ones but didn't get the number on steel ones. Is there anybody looking for these? And found three grassboards they look the same but one is marked made by Herschel and will fit M B 1051 McCormick, anybody interested? thanks chris

The C65 is an IH plate. That size was rarely used...it is one increment smaller than the commonly used C7 plate. They all were 16 or 24 cell plates. The C7 was used for most "medium flat" kernels of that era and basically every IH planter came with that size in plastic or steel.

If they are 16 cell, they might be of some value to the owner of a 2 row IH planter (but I doubt it). Most 4 row planters used 24 cell plates because plant populations were getting higher and the 24 would plant those pops without having to rotate so fast, which caused too many skips.

Today"s hybrid kernel sizes and shapes are hard to size (as per old standards) and modern planters will plant any shape of kernel very accurately.

If you know of someone still using a 2 row planter (for food plots?) give those plates to him. Eight of those plates might mean the previous owner might have been a seed dealer long ago.

Or, strangely, sell them at a flea market as people like them for wall decorations! I"ve seen those people pay $1 each for them.
