2-14 on a 140?

I have a 1-16 three point hitch plow I use with my 140. Plows good.
A farmer I know wants to trade a 2-14 three point hitch for my 1-16. He is a horse farm guy and doesnt grow anything anymore. He wants to use it to dredge out on the side of his road or something...whatever...
Anyways, I think the 140 will pull this plow through relatively soft ground but, what do you all think?
Tires on the 140 are loaded and I have wheel weights that bolt on too. Good tread.

For 3 years, '56/57/58, all we had to plow with was a Fast-Hitch Super C and a 2x14" plow. Basically the same C123 engine, so as long as you have the weight for traction, it should not be a problem. If it were a pull type plow, it might be different.

When we were plowing with the SC, it was back in the day of crop rotation, corn, oats and hay, so most of what we were plowing was hay ground. Not exactly sod, but ground that had not been plowed for a couple of years. The SC was new/carry-over in '56, so it was strong and it handled the F-H 2x14" with no problem. It was sandy loam, but I had an uncle with the same set-up and he had more clay and hills. I don't think he had a problem either.

I can guarantee that 140 would not pull 2-14s in the soil we have here in southwest Iowa unless you were only scratching the surface.

Is your tractor a 3point?Iis it a 1 point FH?
2pointFH?If your tractor is not a 3 point,the plow
wont fit.Only if your tractor is a 3 point should
you trade.If your friend wants a 1 bottomn,have him
remove the rear bottom.Keep your plow.

I have a 140 with a 2-14 fast hitch, it is too short in the pooch to pull that plow in sod ground. It does so so in previouly plowed ground, still a little short of traction. I would stick with the 1- 16 if it were me. Joe

It is going to be used in previously plowed ground. I have another single bottom from my A that I can rig up to the 140 for busting up new ground.

it will never pull it were i live in New York. I have a International 350 utility and all I can pull with that is a 2 bottom plow with 14 inch bottoms.

I watched a guy try to pull 2 plows with a 140 and a fast-hitch. Don't know if it was 12 or 14" plows. It was embarrassing. Had a hard time getting into the furrow. Had a hard time steering. Wheels spun and spun and they had weights, don't know if they were fluid-filled. This was a regular field. I would never ever recommend it. Chances are you'll look like a durn fool. I've operated a 230 and super A's and 140's. the 230 which has a c123 motor had an entirely different power and feel than any 140 or Super A I have ever operated.

We pulled 2-16s in sandy loam soil in se ga when I was little in 3rd gear wot 5 mph. The furrow was half the depth of the front wheel.
