int. 424 overheating

does this tractor have a thermostat and where is it located? I checked oil for antifreeze, none found. pressurized system and no leakage found, radiator lookes clean but can not see much of it.maybe water pump but not sure which was to go. with a 5 foot bush hog, about 5 min before overheat. ideas will be helpful. thanks

Gas or diesel? BOTH have thermostats, gas fits INSIDE neck of upper water fitting and is held in place with a snap ring. Diesel is under upper water fitting, which is held on by 3 bolts.

It can't be filled to the top of the neck. It must be left down at least 1/2 way to the core or more. If it is boiling and steaming from extreme heat or the gauge is showing radical temps but there is none in fact. If overfilling, stop doing it there is no overflow. If showing hot but no spitting check the gauge with a thermometer or hand held infrared laser pointed device. scan the radiator and look for cool spots doing nothing. Good luck. Jim
