Hey Everyone,
Great forum here, longtime lurker and first time poster. I have a great 584 that I bought about 6 months ago and now I have acquired a Case Model 70 loader for it. I'm trying to figure out where to plumb my pressure and return lines. I took off the seat and shield to gain better access to the pump. I believe the pump is the green circle in the photo below? In the 2nd photo is from below the transmission and I outlined in green what I believe is the return line. It loops all the way around the axle and then goes into a fitting at the bottom of the tranny case. Is the plug circled in blue where I can tap a pressure line? If I'm totally wrong, thats fine just tell me the right way so I can get it going. Thanks for your help.

Hi Justin,
See attached photo.
Remove item 39 pipe from top of remote hydraulic control valve to draft control unit under the seat. Cap off the connector at draft control connector. Connect the input hydraulic hose from loader controls to elbow on top of remote hydraulic control item 38, connect return line from loader control valve to drain plug under right rear axle using items 27, 28 and 29. My brother has a 3230 which is a newer model of the 584 and it has a plug into the side of the transmission just by the hydraulic control levers and we connected the hydraulic return line into this plug as it did not require the adapters item 27, 28 and 29.

Hope you understand this.

I'm having some trouble identifying the things in
the picture. Could you refer to these items in the
pictures I took? Thanks JimB

If your brother's tractor has the return from the loader valve in the transmission rather than the rear frame it should be changed to return into the rear frame as specified.

What can happen is the transmission will overfill and the rear frame will run low on oil. In some cases starvation of the hydraulic pump can result, the pump can fail due to oil starvation.

If the hose outlined in green in the 2nd picture is attached to the fitting below the right rear axle you already have a power beyond on the tractor. Run supply to your loader valve from the fitting and return from the loader valve into the rear frame where that hose is attached.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for info on loader return line.
I will have to check with him as to where he did
hook the return line. I helped him move the loader
frame from his 495 to his 3230 but we ran out of
time that day and he completed the hydraulic line
connections the next day. I know the 495 was
connected below the axle.

Thanks for info

That is the best idea I have heard yet. I couldn't figure out what that hose did, knew it wasn't factory. There is a plate on the side of the rear remote valve that the hose comes out of, loops around the axle and goes into the bottom side plate on tranny. Makes sense that when the previous owner took off the FEL or something else, he just looped it and had it dump back in the reservoir. Don't know the history of this tractor, but I'm only the second owner. There is also a big extension pipe going into the hydraulic fill port behind the seat That lends me to think it had some other hydraulic attachments at one time.[color=red:3f72c9441a][/color:3f72c9441a]

Hi, I believe the other Jim has the correct solution as the tractor had a FEL at one time using a power beyond adapter and when the previous owner removed the FEL, he/she just connected output of power beyond to return line of loader control valves. This connection was necessary as the 584 has an open center hydraulic system and at idle state the hydraulic oil has to flow in a loop, from pump through the system and back to the reservoir.

The right side of my photo shows the hookup for FEL hydraulic valves with a power beyond adapter.
Just remove the hydraulic hose that connects to the power beyond adapter at the power beyond connection and connect it to the output side of the FEL control valves and add another hydraulic hose from power beyond connection to the inlet side of the FEL control valves.
