Can anyone give me an idea how rare a Farmall 450 Factory LP with TA is??? Also, the one I am looking at has a single wheel in the front.
Thanks

LA Farmer, Not! At one time You couldn't swing a dead Cat and not hit one here in Central Texas. they are farther and fewer between Now, but not hart to find.
Front End were change out as regular as the sun comes up in the East and sets in the west! After a system was figured out and front ends could be changes in 1 hr basically, 4 Bolts from a standard 2 tire tricycle to a single Cotton Front!
A little longer (1-2 hrs) on a wide front, just more bolts and some brace brackets.
I wouldn't turn down a decent 450 LP-TA at a good price. Most 450s came standard with TA unless it was a Factory TA Delete. You need to be Owning it Tomorrow or at least real quickly! Hope this Helps!

Their can't be a huge number of LP built because from the numbers I can find there were only about 25,266 total 450's built ( 18,305 LP & gasoline, 6,961 Diesel).
I wish I could find the article I read a while back and they said there were around 1,200 LPs made. The 450 was only built for three years (1956-1958).

Im pretty sure the production number for those was around 1011 or something like that. not really a lot to start with, and I cant tell you how many ive seen parted out just so pullers can use the head off them

Send a pic when you can.
There were "factory" LP tractors that came from the factory set up as LP.
Down here just about every county seat had a either a "mechanic" or a dealership who would convert a gas tractor over to LP with just anything laying around locally. That's just the way it was back in the day.
I believe the factory LP would have the two fill valves on the left side (looking forward) and the steering shaft going through the center of the tank, and the vapor, liquid, valves toward the rear.
An even gap between LP tank & the sheet metal is a good indicator, and the LP badges above the number badges on the hood.
I have seen some factory looking conversions that were almost impossible to distinguish, and I have seen some real hack jobs that weren't even close, but functioned perfectly.

I have one, built in about February of 1958. I had heard before that there were between 1000 and 1100 built. Mine has factory TA, my Dad had the dealer add Behlin power steering before taking delivery. I'm just finishing the rebuild on the Ensign vaporizor/regulator. My email is open if you have questions, this one and I kind of grew up together! Hugh

LP's pretty much all over West Texas. Not that rare of an item to find.I bring them to Pa now and then. Just sent one to Burgh salvage here in Pa. He paid me $1850 for it, so I figured that was more than anyone would have paid to restore it. Guys just don't have any money these days.
