Replacing a cub radiator

I have a 1953 cub with a woods belly mower on her . The old girls radiator must be replaced ! The new radiators that I see have a pressure cap on them , The old one was non pressure , as radiator had an over flow leak when I got the tractor 9 years ago .I would just drain it for the winter , I was told to replace it --my question is if it is an older thermocline system , putting pressure to it will it work of just use the non pressure cap ??
Any suggestions ? Comments
Thanks all

so it will not hurt the system , to put a pressure type radiator on it
Ill have to look and see if it has a water pump .

I just checked no water pump on her . So just replace the radiator and reuse the non pressure cap . Thanks guys .
That cub to cut grass is like riding a caddy with the long wheel base ... Love that old girl ..

Why replace it now. Drain the radiator and block. Then fill it with vinegar use it and after a few days drain it into a bucket and see how much crud drains out. Then back flush with water and look at what comes out the top. If it looks clean run some distelled water then drain again watching what comes out and if its clean refill with proper antifreeze should be OK then.

Radiator always had a leak on upper end , just kept it topped off with water , Never would put antifreeze in it because of my animals .I was having trouble with crap in gas tank getting into carb . So I was not using her last fall . I forgot to drain radiator , had a freeze and opened up many more leaks ...
I have cleaned out fuel tank , Rebuilt carb . topped her off with water and it leaked like a colander . LOL
Thats why I am replacing it !!
