Leaking Oil from side of engine on 706 gas

What's the metal plate called that is behind the carb on a 706 gas? Mine has developed a leak..I've tightened all the bolts, but still seeps a little. Would a new gasket solve this problem, and do I have to drain both oil and coolant to change this gasket...
Thanks, Cmore

When you replace the gasket make sure you also replace all of the screws that hold the plate on. They are a special sealing screw. If you don't replace them it will continue to leak even with the new gasket.

Yep they seep , like said below just a cork gskt. For the best sealing on them old permatex is about as good as it gets and do not over tighten . You may have to do a little flatting on the cover at the screw holes as they may be crushed in and not allow for even pressure between screws . . Also install new rubber washers on the screw heads.

NEITHER. Outside of a little residual oil, the cavity is "dry" with the engine shut off.

add a gasket sealer. callled the right stuff. best sealer on the market ,apply on both sides of a new gasket just fixed my 706. sealant. can be found at most parts store

That is silicone, and if the screws are snugged down AT ALL while the before the slippery-as-snot stuff hardens, the gasket will slip right out of place!

Just out of curiosity where does one get the gasket and screws?

CNH dealership.

Gasket 369982R1
Screw 375612R91

The gasket is about $20, the screws $4+. It takes 16 screws.

If your original screws are still good other than the seal you can make new seals by getting a piece of fuel line the correct size to just fit over the threads and slice off pieces about 1/16 - 3/32 inch long. the correct size hose will need to be pushed over the threads and tight enough to not fall off.
