Farmall M knocking noise from water pump drive

All,

I have a knocking noise coming from the front of the fan when I rev up my M. I recently just replaced the water pump with a new one that came with the dogbone looking piece that engages the 2 studs. I reused my studs and springs. It looks as if I need to replace the studs and/or bushing the 2 holes in the drive piece. Any thoughts and/or suggestions are much appreciated.

When I replaced the water pump on my M, the radiator was misaligned allowing the fan to hit the shroud and it got worse as I added more throttle. I'd check that your not rubbing on the shroud first.

That was indeed my first thought but it has at least 3/4" clearance all arounds and is pretty stable, no movement. When I grab the belt and jerk it back and forth I get the same sound and it sounds like it's coming from that drive setup.

Are you sure you got that adjustable pulley locked. The lock bolt has to line up with one of the slots, seen that before, loud knock.
