364 fuel pump

Does anyone know why so many International tractors such a 364 B414 B275 had the engine mounted fuel pump replaced with an electric one? I have a B414 and a 364 and both have a Facet electric fuel pump. The engine driven one is still there and I removed it and tried it and it pumps fine on both tractors.I'm going to hook up the one on my 364 diesel and see what happens The electric one keeps cutting out on me.

Hi Phil, the usual problem was a pin hole in the diaphragm that allowed Diesel fuel to leak into crankcase. I don't know is a replacement diaphragm is still available. In cold climates pin holes can be caused by ice crystals in the Diesel fuel.

That makes sense but why wouldn't anyone replace it with an original? Maybe it can't be found. All the ones I find say not for tractors with power steering or horizontal exhaust. I like the original fuel pump as it has a sediment bowl on it. Just trying to figure out what to do.

Well I bit the bullet today and ordered a new electric fuel pump that is designed for diesel. I hope that solves my problem. The old one is pulsing but nothing comes out of it sometimes.
